Learn the ins-and-outs of dining out (through a tried-and-true 88 point check list) and writing clear, concise, informative and impartial reviews on restaurant experiences. We'll also touch on writing profiles on restaurants, chefs and dishes. Your newfound knowledge can be used for everything from journals and blogs to online critique sites like Yelp and Urbanspoon to short articles to parts of a larger food writing project. Leading the class will be Patrick Evans- Hylton, a Johnson & Wales-trained chef and founder of the Mid-Atlantic Food Writer's Symposium. He is a culinary advisor to the commonwealth of Virginia and a James Beard Foundation media awards judge. Patrick's work has appeared in numerous publications and he is the author of more than a half-dozen books, including Dishing Up Virginia.
