Saucy Apples

This chunky applesauce is tasty served warm in a kid-friendly dinner alongside a simple roasted chicken or pork chops. It also keeps well refrigerated to send off cold in a school lunch, or as an after-school snack. Use firm, tart apples for best results.

Ingredients

SERVINGS: 3 Cup(s)
  • 4 apples (Gala, yellow or Jonagolds)
  • 3/4 cup of water
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

Peel, core and cut apples into chunks. Place in heavy pot with water, sugar and cinnamon and cook for about 20 minutes, or until softened. Cool slightly and smash with a fork or masher. Can be served immediately or refrigerated and served cold.
