Richmond Culinary Schools
Whether you are on a career track or just want to improve your cooking skills, Richmond offers several culinary and cooking school options. Aspiring chefs can take a few classes or enroll in a full degree program at these locations:
University of Richmond School of Professional and Continuing Studies’ Center for Culinary Arts
Certificate programs include Culinary Arts, Baking & Pastry Arts, Nutrition & Food Science, and Food Service Management. The Center also offers culinary classes for those who want to cook for fun. Class fees range from $75 to $200. Certificate program costs vary based on courses and program length.
Culinard Culinary Institute of Virginia College
36-week diploma programs are offered in the Pastry Arts and Culinary Arts. Classes in both programs are intensive and hands on. Each diploma program costs just under $16,000 in tuition fees.
J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College Culinary and Hospitality Program
Two- or three-year Associate of Applied Science degree in the Culinary Arts and two- or three-year year Career Studies Certificate in the Pastry Arts. Tuition rates are around $155 per semester credit hour for all programs.
Mise En Place Culinary Experiences
Mise En Place offers cooking classes for all kinds of cooks, as well as hosts cooking class parties and private events. Class costs range from $45 to $120.
Cooking School at Southern Season
Southern Season offers classes for the everyday cook, with class prices ranging from $35 to $55.
Sur La Table offers various specialty classes for cooks of all ages. Class prices range from $50 to $250.
Williams-Sonoma Cooking School
Williams-Sonoma offers free weekly technique and kids’ classes, as well as cookbook-based, chef-led cooking classes, which include a meal and cookbook signed by the chef. Prices are usually about $75 per class.
