Alamo BBQ Pulled Pork Tacos
Southern fusion pulled pork tacos at Alamo BBQ.

“Texas BBQ, RVA Style” is a fitting motto for this Church Hill gem. I was not surprised to discover that the tacos—like everything else I’ve tasted on the menu—are delicious. Diners choose from pulled pork, pulled chicken, beef brisket, smoked link sausage, BBQ portabella and blackened tilapia. I scored with the pulled pork tacos, which are served on a large, toasted flour tortilla with slaw, cheddar cheese and a roasted corn and black bean relish. The flavorful toppings nicely complemented the smoky pulled pork, and each bite finished with a slight kick of heat.
